Case Studies
The social norms approach within the chosen schools in this section is to help children and young people understand what their peers are doing. These are generally positive behaviours.
The approach has been developed to counteract findings which show that people of all ages generally think there are fewer healthy and more risk taking behaviours than is actually the case.
Normative or social norms approaches within PSHE promote positive behaviours in a unique way because they tackle so many of the issues often addressed in a negative way.
Data Analysis
The Case Studies outline the attitudes and perceptions from a total of 4161 students from a pilot delivered in Bedford.
Responses to the questions did not appear to be any different when compared against each individual school. E.g. low socio economic to high socio economic background
Three schools that focussing on sex and relationships areas managed to complete the questionnaire for a second time at the end of the delivery of their SRE programme and you can click on Case Study A, B or C for the results.
