Social Norms
Know the score on just about everything.
R U Different is a nationwide resource that uncovers the real attitudes and perceptions of young people in one simple survey.
Sometimes young people can feel like they are different and in the minority when in fact they are in the majority when it comes to many life choices.
Research has shown that choices around risky behaviours such as smoking, drinking or having underage sex for example are largely influenced by the perception of how many of their friends and peers participate in such activity.
Add in a few media horror stories and no wonder young people find it hard to distinguish the truth from what could be just a few exaggerated claims in the schoolyard and beyond.
R U Different is about knowing the facts and making choices. Whether it's thinking about sex for the first time or trying drugs, it's important to know the score.
And it doesn't stop there. Promoting positive behaviours from the survey is the first step towards real intervention and our pilot case studies are already showing significant shifts in behaviours from the first survey.
A key contributor towards OFSTED, Every Child Matters and Healthy Schools Enhanced Status, R U Different offers a positive and measurable first step towards healthy attitudes, perceptions and behaviours.
